DC McFarlane Superpowers - Superman

Image
I'm really impressed with McFarlanes relentless push into the action figure foray. His name has definitely become more prevalent in mainstream toy aisles. I've done a good job of resisting most of it, as hard as that's been. DC Superpowers, tho 🧐 This line just keeps growing. I had a few but ultimately sent them to Brother Midnight, with no intentions of recollecting anything else from the line. That is, until this Superman figure released.

If you've picked up any of McFarlane's retro DC Superpowers figures, you've undoubtedly come across the hideous capes with holes in them. Luckily there are places on eBay where you can find amazing replacement capes! Check out "thecapemaster" on eBay! That's where I got mine and it's pretty flawless. The fabric is more like the cloth on the original Superpowers figures and hangs nicer than the stiff ribbonlike capes McFarlane used for his reissues. Also, no annoying holes in them either. They are kind of expensive, though, at $15 with shipping but since I'll only be needing two, not a big deal. I like this line a lot and hope to see some of the characters from the vintage line make a comeback. I'd love to have another vac-metal Braniac!

Not So Super, Super Powers Superman

Image
Retro is all the rave right now, especially in the world of action figures. Todd McFarlane has taken notice and released his own line of retro themed DC action figures, DC Super Powers! I could do a long winded review on Supes where I harp on about how Super Powers was a line I liked as a kid, gush over the amazing card art  and blah, blah, blah but I won't. I will, however, point out the fact that the capes on these figures stink! They blow! Absolute crapola! They look and feel like cheap Dollar Tree Christmas ribbon. I don't get it. Not only that but they decided to fasten the capes to the inside of the packaging with plastic ties that leave a gaping hole. The figure is cool on it's own but, man, Batman and Superman are the two most popular DC characters. Their capes are iconic and should be treated as such. Looks like I might be hopping on eBay to find some customs.  I don't have many Superman figures but of the three I currently own, Spin Master's offering is my...

After selling off most of my DC Infinite Crisis 3.75 figures I tried filling the  void with Spinmaster's offerings. It worked, a little. Now that McFarlane has been releasing this line of 7" DC figs I feel a little reinvigorated and eager to build up my DC collection again.

DC Spin Master Heroes Unite - Superman

Image
Back again with another DC Spin Master action figure! Today we take a look at Superman. Off the bat, you'll notice that this cardback doesn't feature the "1st Edition" stamping on the upper right hand corner. It seems like variants are a running theme with Spin Master. Even cardbacks get the random treatment. I don't know about you guys but I'm not a big fan of how figures with capes are packaged. I always cut additional slits in the back to avoid damaging the cape when pulling It out of the packaging. Spin Master keeps It cartoony with its line of figures. They are almost like big  Imaginext figures only with more realistic proportions.    Not an amazing figure but a very solid one! I'm really enjoying these collectible cards. It's nice to be surprised with the cool action shots, if you haven't already seen them in online reviews.  Here we have the three included mystery accessories. A chest plate that wh...

2 Targets And 2 Wal Marts Later...

I ended up finding one of the figures I was on the hunt for (Superman) and the other  pick-up (Target Exclusive Batman) was more of an impulse buy. Looking at the packaging label, It seems as If these are two separate lines under the same umbrella. The Caped Crusader , Batman themed  line seems to be the one most available at retail while the Heroes Unite line, consisting of various DC heroes and villains,  Is nowhere to be found. At least In my neck of the woods. I hopped online last night and picked up a couple of the Heroes Unite figures on eBay and had an offer declined on the Flash figure. That fucker wanted $15.99 for  figure that sells for $7.99 at Target! I offered $13 but he wasn't havin' It. What Is It with The Flash, anyways? Why are all of his figures so friggin' expensive? I mean, he's just....fast. Batman has no powers at all and Is still 20 times cooler than the Flash and more affordable In action figure form. Anyways, loose pics of these two fort...

DC Infinite Heroes Crisis - Superman 3 3/4

The figure your looking at  sells for about 15 to 20 dollars .....loose.So you can just imagine what It was selling for new In package. Now, imagine my face when I saw this on eBay listed at $7.69 with free shipping. The first thing I do when I see "too good to be true" listings Is check the seller feedback.Damn,I knew It!The last few  transactions received negative   feedback with claims of the seller not even shipping the item.Another buyer complained about receiving the wrong item without being able to return It or receive a refund.I took the chance ,not even expecting the figure to arrive or the package arriving with a less popular and less expensive figure In It.Even when the seller marked the iem as shipped I had doubts. In fact ,once I received, opened the package  and saw the Superman figure ,I thought for sure there would be blemishes or paint slop all over his face or sculpt.I was wrong. Supes was minty as can be! I have wanted this figure f...
