So, I thought Marvel Select was an older product but I guess these figures ( Magneto and Wolverine) released last year. Either way, I love both of them! I'll go deeper into it in my next post. The Marvel Universe Professor Xavier figure was one I've been needing in my collection for some time and have finally gotten around to picking one up.

Nostalgia

Image
Right now, this is what brings me back. It's not even connected to T.V. or anything. It's set out as more of a display piece, but there's something about this X-Men game and box art that evoke pure bliss! It marked the first time we got to play a video game with actual, fleshed out cartoon sprites of our favorite Jim Lee X-Men characters! This and Sports talk Baseball were game changers for me. Loved my Sega Genesis!!! Marvel Universe - Archangel

Image
Slowly but surely , I've been able to add key figures to my Marvel Universe collection by waiting It out. Had I known these figures were going to be so scarce and expensive today  I would have picked them up back when they first released years ago. Like the cliche saying goes " Hindsight is 20/20 ". So ,that aside. Lets move on to the figure! One of the nicer figures In the Marvel Universe  action figure line,Archangel is a series 2 release , numbered 015. I never understood the "Fans Choice Winner!" designation on the left hand corner of the packaging. Was there some kind of an  official pole for collectors to vote on their favorite figures? It felt great to have a carded figure in my hands again . Loose figures are cool but like most collectors will tell you, nothing beats the smell of a new action figure. It's chemically delicious! Hasbro put their all into these first few series of  Marvel Universe figures. Included was a Top Secret fold...

Re-Collecting My Childhood Comics!

Image
In the 80's ,X-Men Classic,or Classic X-Men ,whichever one you prefer, were a great series of comic books. As a kid I had a few stragglers ,you know ,late issues In my collection but I could never find that elusive number 1.So when Jim Lee dropped X-Men #1, In 1991 , I was all In.I was finally going to be  able to follow an X-Men story arc from the very beginning!Ya see, comic books was our Netflix.Only we had to wait a full month before we could get our hands on the next episode. And even after that month long wait,It wasn't a sure thing that your local comic shop would have any In stock.Still, there was nothing more exhilarating than walking into a  shop and finding that new release!Right away, X- Men became life.I had other comics In my collection.West Coast Avengers,Captain America,Spider-Man but nothing ever came close to my collection of  Jim Lee X-Men comic books.Today,I am one step closer to obtaining all of the Jim Lee X-Men comics I had as a kid. There's lots more to...

Iceman!No,Not Goerge Gervin ,You Silly!

I now have a decent Iceman figure to add to my Marvel Universe team of X-Men!

Birthday Pick Ups # 3

Image
I need another Marvel Universe figure Like I need a hole In my head.I know It,but I wasn't about to pass up this Apocalypse figure which I picked up for half of what most vendors are  asking for these days.Even though he's a must have villain for the old X-Men shelf ,I was never a huge fan of this design.I am more a fan of his 90's design.Don't get me wrong,It's a great figure, and from the looks of things I don't think I'll ever see a 90's themed Marvel Universe figure released, so this one will do for now. Pac has come a long way since his ToyBiz days ,hasn't he.Crazy thing Is,I like the ToyBiz version better!

Marvel Select Display Set Ups (Part 1)

Image
I don't know why I keep picking up pieces like these two Marvel Select displays.I don't have any room for them, LOL!!These last couple of days I've been brainstorming on how to display my stashed collection of contemporary 3 3/4 action figures. I've got Star Wars ,Indiana Jones,Marvel Universe ,G.I. Joe  and various DC figs with nowhere to put them.At the least, these display pieces  allow me to have some fun with them even If It's only for picture purposes.Today we'll be looking at the X-Men Danger Room! The top pic shows how It should display normally but I chose to lay It on It's side to accommodate more figures.Once I get some extra shelf space ,this Is where I'll display my X-Men figures. THE DANGER ROOM ROUGE'S UP TO HER WAIST IN RATHTAR! <<DANGER ROOM..INITIATE SABRETOOTH SEQUENCE>>                                           ...

Not much ,just a couple of things ,but something big on the horizon ;)First up we have some super cheap third party Sega Genesis six button controllers. After popping In my Judge Dredd game the other day ,I realized that It implements six button play.I quickly hopped online and picked up the cheapest set I could find and unfortunately got what I paid for :( Don't get me wrong, they serve their purpose, but that's it.Out of the box they are extremely lightweight and feel cheap. The buttons stick out excessively ,so It feels like your  pushing down on a pen top, only without the resistance. The D- Pad works good and overall ,the controller is usable, but there are definitely better options out there. These will make good place holders If your looking to do some fast gaming until you can get yourself a legit six button pad. My next purchase was a little better. Marvel Universe Is my shit.I can't get enough of  it and I'm constantly looking for new additions to make ...

New Sega Genesis Games!

Image
Geez!My Round Robin Challenge has backfired on me,lol!I've been pretty sick for most of this week so I haven't had the time to hit up Wal Mart to pick up any kinds of character/movie themed food items  .Hopefully I can have something posted by tomorrow or Sunday.I did receive these Sega games In the mail today!Anybody remember these?!?Damn!I loved both of these games !!!I can remember being put off a little by the difficulty of the X-Men game ,but I loved the  play mechanics and graphics.Being able to switch up characters mid game was pretty damn sick for that time.Judge Dredd came out a couple years later during the movie release.I remember my buddy having a brand new  extra copy and letting me have It!I love the slow  pace of the game and the ability to choose between killing or arresting perps. Both are great little time killers with nice graphics and large character sprites.
