Remco Mighty Crusaders - The Fox

Image
This is kind of a weird thing. I feel like  I either owned or knew someone who owned this figure as a kid but can't remember exactly when this all happened. Heck It might just be a false memory for all I know. I could be confusing it with the Voltron Robeast Scorpious figure. Regardless, I'm really digging this line right now. Much like their Lost World of  Warlord line of action figures, REMCO took a not so popular Mighty Crusaders  comic book franchise and made toys out of them! From what I gathered, the original Mighty Crusaders comics of the 60's were written by Superman's co- creator Jerry Siegel. That lasted only 7 issues and then in 1983 Archie Comics affiliated Red Circle Comics revived the series. REMCO then produced an action figure line. The Fox is my favorite of the  8 that saw releases. I paid a little more than what I wanted to for it but I just had to have a complete specimen. The card back, even in poor condition is also nice to have for reference. I...

Behind The Music

Image
I'm big on music,so this was a challenge I wanted to do but couldn't wrap my head around.I wasn't going to participate this week ,but after getting the 411 from Mr.Smith ,It's all systems go!  This challenge led me to do some digging Into my past to verify some things. And I'm glad I did.You see I have this thing where certain songs, especially 80's songs, throw my ass right back to the exact place and time I might have been listening to It.I say I might have because I haven't really done any verification on any of these memories. But I refuse to think of them as false memories because the images that appear In my head are so damn vivid/lucid.This will be one of the first times that I actually do a little fact checking on the release of a song that damn near puts me In a nostalgic trance every time I hear It. No joke,It's like time stops and I'm jettisoned back to my childhood. It's pretty freaky actually.Have any of you guys /gals ever exper...

What's Inside of Package #1

Image
It's hard to express what this figure means to me.It's not because I loved this line as a kid, heck I didn't even know who they were when I got them for Christmas back In  1984.At that time I was an avid watcher of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.I think my mom had caught on because soon after we made a trip down to the local public market where she let me pick out an action figure.I believe I chose Fisto. That Christmas ,there was a huge box under the tree with my name on it.It turns out the box was filled with He-Man MOTU.......no....It wasn't He-Man at all. There was a guy with wings on his head and a cape. Some  native american  looking dude and a bunch of monster hybrid warriors. What I received that Christmas was a box filled with Remco Lost World of Warlord and Warrior Beasts.Ouch! My parents must have thought they were MOTU figures.I liked them, but knew they weren't anything I had seen on TV.There was no Lost World of Warlord cartoon and I knew nothing abo...

1984 Cannell A-Team- MR. T ( B.A. Baracus)

Image
Mr.T was a staple In my childhood and yours too If you grew up In the 80's.He was a larger than life,In yo face character who stood for everything that was good .Mr. T taught us the right thing to do.He taught us to never bully, stand up for ourselves and to be kind while doing It.He also taught us how to say "I pity da fool!"He was on our lunchboxes, television screens and cereal boxes and frankly, there was no one cooler than! This past week I was able to negotiate with an awesome eBay-er,and I got my very own Mr.T action figure!I already had a B.A. Baracus Galoob 3 3/4 fig but that one ,while cool, just doesn't do him any justice. This Cannell (what the hell Is a Cannell?, I never heard of this toy manufacturer)produced  Mr.T figure Is a better representation of the character, with the jewelry, tattoos and  trademark outfit! I expected the plastic on this figure to be a little heftier ,but It's really not that chunky. He feels rather light In hand. Alot...
