Vintage Shelf

Image
I picked this up a couple of days ago and thought it'd be the perfect place to display vintage action figures! I mean just look at it! It's magnificently vintage! I don't even think It was made to go on the wall as holes were made in the backing we're I'm assuming nails were used to hang it up. It almost seems like it was part of a small hutch or kitchen nook. It looks like something I would have totally stolen from my mother and used as a backdrop for my figures back in the day. I'm hooked on these vintage styled shelves and will definitely be on the lookout for more👍

Polaroid Sun 600

Image
Looking through my parents old closet of miscellaneous items, I came across a vintage Polaroid camera! I wasn't even aware that they still make these today, well repros anyways. So eventually I'll have to pick up some film to snap some pics of my action figures the old fashioned way. For now I thought the camera would look nice displayed next to some G1 Transformers!

Remco Mighty Crusaders - The Fox

Image
This is kind of a weird thing. I feel like  I either owned or knew someone who owned this figure as a kid but can't remember exactly when this all happened. Heck It might just be a false memory for all I know. I could be confusing it with the Voltron Robeast Scorpious figure. Regardless, I'm really digging this line right now. Much like their Lost World of  Warlord line of action figures, REMCO took a not so popular Mighty Crusaders  comic book franchise and made toys out of them! From what I gathered, the original Mighty Crusaders comics of the 60's were written by Superman's co- creator Jerry Siegel. That lasted only 7 issues and then in 1983 Archie Comics affiliated Red Circle Comics revived the series. REMCO then produced an action figure line. The Fox is my favorite of the  8 that saw releases. I paid a little more than what I wanted to for it but I just had to have a complete specimen. The card back, even in poor condition is also nice to have for reference. I...

Taking A Look At Snake Eyes V.37 !

Image
This Snake Eyes figure has been on my want list for too long and thanks to Brothermidnight , I can cross It off the list. What a lot of pictures fail to convey are the purple accents on this Snake Eyes  figure. They are subtle but noticeable. I like It . It gives It more of a comic book feel. In fact,up until the Retaliation Ultimate Snake Eyes released , this was the go to Snake Eyes for most collectors looking for a solid modern representation of  the beloved 1985  version. Lets compare the two and see how they both stack up to old V.2 Snake Eyes! The obvious difference between the two is size. The Ultimate version Is a lot taller than the 25th Ann. version. It's  also a lot shinier .  25th Ann. Snake Eyes/ Ultimate Snake Eyes As far as head sculpts go,I think the 25th Ann. Snake Eyes beats the Ultimate version. It's way more accurate .  Looking at both modern Snake Eyes figures next to the vintage and you would pro...

Desert Dogs Sound Fx.

Image
As a kid,did you ever find yourself in need of a quick action figure fix?Maybe you were on vacation with your parents when you realize that your new surroundings would make for some interesting action figure episodes.Or was It that  long car ride when the boredom got so out of hand that   rest areas were designated ,not for peeing, but for action figure hunting? You would never be so lucky as to find anything you were truly interested in,either.Never a Joe in sight or a MOTU figure within reach.  Just something passable enough to get you through your toy withdrawals, like this Desert Dogs sound fx generic military action figure. Now before you go calling this guy  Mel Appel ,understand that this is just the name of the company that makes these figures. In fact ,these guys are all nameless.A blank slate. But that was the cool part !They could be anybody you wanted them to be!     These guys also came with an arsenal and a cool sound effects feature!Sa...

Thundercats Vintage

Image
Thundercats wasn't a line I was desperately trying to add to my collection ,but felt like It was only right to do so at one point or another.I mean ,they were a huge part of the 80's cartoon and action figure scene.I just never collected them as a kid.I loved the cartoon but never got around to owning any of  the figures.Maybe it was the price point,or the simple 5 points of articulation ,not sure.I found these on eBay for about 5 bucks a piece! They all look great but the arm feature on Lion - O isn't working very well and all came to me  incomplete. I'm loving  S-S-Slithe! If anything, these three should ramp up my vintage toy collector cred while jazzing up my top shelf of vintage figures. I currently have larger ones holding up the back with the smaller Joes and other 3 3/4 figures towards the front.

MOTU Vintage Rokkon

Image
From what I've gathered online,Rokkon wasn't released until 1986.That would explain the connection I have with this figure. At that time ,I was a full blown action figure fanatic ,and while It was mainly Joes I gobbled up,Rokkon was prevalent In many of my friends collections.I wasn't a big He-Man collector, but figures like this, with cool gimmicks, always grabbed my attention. The greatest thing about Rokkon Is the connection he has  with one of my all time favorite years,1986.Lots of crazy shit happened that year. The unfortunate space shuttle Challenger incident,Mike Tyson becoming the youngest heavyweight champion and the release of a MOTU figure that morphs into a rock and back again. "Which way did he go!"

MOTU Vintage Jitsu

Image
I needed someone to duel It out with Fisto so Jitsu made the most sense.Jitsu is a MOTU figure I've always liked and I'm glad I could add him to the collection. He came with his sword but he can't hold It since the outer part of the handle Is broken off.

MOTU Vintage Fisto

Image
Lately I've been on a MOTU kick, looking for figures that I either owned as a kid or came across regularly via other kids, friends and relatives. Fisto I had as a youngan. I wasn't into all the MOTU characters  but really liked the bearded barbarian looking figures ,and Fisto fit the bill. Lots of kids I knew owned Fisto. He was pretty much a regular and many a fourth grader carried him around In their MOTU lunch pales.I found this one on Ebay, listed as being in excellent condition .What a crock.Yeah ,his paint and overall condition was great but his legs are loose as heck!I can hardly get him to stand up.I'm still waiting on a response from the seller, who coincidentally doesn't accept returns,to see what he has to say.I'll probably hang on to the figure and try to do the old MOTU leg fix,but this seller needs to be reminded to list things like loose legs, especially on these MOTU figures.

Vintage TMNT Figure Hunt Officially Over!

Image
The final two  arrived yesterday ,Donatello and Raphael. Many of you who have followed my whiny, vintage needs, posts can finally breath a sigh of relief. You don't have to hear me bitching about how much I need a set of vintage ninja turtles anymore. And even If It wasn't annoying you,It was annoying the crap out of me.So much so that I took matters into my own hands, sold off a couple of figures and went to eBay to go on a  TMNT cyber hunt, even If It meant cutting the cost by buying them  without any weapons.I knew It wasn't going to be easy and that I was going to have to make sacrifices because complete ninja turtles on eBay nowadays are ridiculously expensive.I wanted mine to come with,at least, their web gear/belts.Leo came with his web gear and so did Mikey ,along with one nun chuck and a couple of extra weapons.Leo was about 13 bucks shipped and Michelangelo  $7.Donatello and Raphael came together ,$ 9.99 for the pair for the pair.Donatello came weaponless w/web ge...

TMNT Michelangelo (vintage)

Image
I got Michelangelo today!I managed to find his soft head version with at least one set of nun chucks and some extra weapons to arm the other turtles.

TMNT Leonardo (vintage)

Image
I've been after vintage TMNT figures for what seems like an eternity. The four, original turtles anyway. It seems like many of the gimmick turtles and supporting cast of heroes and villains could be had on the cheap while the original four always carried a hefty price tag. That hefty price tag doubled If the  turtles happened to be the soft, rubber head versions.I finally stuck to my guns, got assertive and picked up all four turtles over the weekend. It took a little leg work and sacrifice ,as I had to sell off some of my contemporary collection to pull It off.Leonardo arrived yesterday and I'm super thrilled to have him! It's not the soft head version, nor did he come with any weapons, but at least I got him with his web gear.If anybody has an extra vintage Leonardo Katana lying around for trade or donation, goodwill starts here ;)

My Current Want List Pt.1 (VINTAGE)

Image
I'm at the point In toy collecting where I have most of what I sought after when I began this whole action figure blogging thing back In 2011.Remember Action Figs and Things? If not , here Is a link  to my very first action figure post, ever !Since then I've acquired a nice amount of figures ,not an astounding amount, but enough to keep me blogging and my display case full. With that being said, there are still a couple figures out there that are on my radar. Here are my vintage wants-                                                           SECTAURS- SPIDRAX Doesn't have to come with all accessories ,but I'd like to find one with his harness and at least 1 pistol.Spidrax came with an Insect hand puppet  which I'm really not interested In.This Is a figure I had as a kid  so the nostalgic value alone makes this number 1 one on my w...
