Wonder Man Comic Lot!

Image
I recently received my package containing 17  issues of  Wonder Man 1991 -94!This was a series I wanted to get into as a kid but only managed to  pick up the two titles you see below.I don't know what happened.I must have lost interest.I do remember really loving the character.Wonder Man came off as being kind of  aloof  and arrogant In the comics,some-timing as a Hollywood actor. He was kind of a lone wolf and that was something I gravitated towards when It came to comic book heroes and villains that appealed to me.I can't wait to read through these again and give you guys a little more insight into one of Marvels', IMO,most underrated heroes. Silver Surfer Issue #1 1987

The great thing about recollecting things from your past Is being able to flash right back to the exact moment you first acquired them. With comics, you get to narrow it down to the specific months and years!Silver Surfer was a series I tried  to buy monthly ,as they released.I remember getting pretty hooked on the storyline and wanting to read every issue but only being able to acquire the first 4 .Comic shop visits were sparse as the only person who knew where all the shops were was my sisters boyfriend at the time.He would always find the time to pick me up for trips to the Arcade,Toys R Us and LCS.One of those trips to the LCS resulted in the acquisition of this baby right here.... Marvel Silver Surfer #1 1987 (Front) Marvel Silver Surfer #1 1987 (Back) I can remember making one more trip to that same shop looking for issue number 5 and the shop owner telling me he didn't have It.I subsequently gave up on  the search and moved on to other titles.Still, nothing b...

Mephisto 1987 (Limited Series) Issues 1,2,3

Image
The only issue of Mephisto I had as a kid was  #3.I probably wouldn't have picked up the other issues In this limited series but since they sold as a lot ,I pulled the trigger on them.Issue #3 will be the only one to go on display. The others will go In a comic box.Yup ,you heard right.I am officially In the market for a comic box.Which means ,you guessed It,more comics on the way! As far as Mephisto goes, all I can remember about him was that he was pretty bad ass!Remember I was 10 when I first read issue number 3 so everything's pretty much a blur ,right now.But that's what's so great about re-collecting childhood comics.Re-reading them and being overcome by  that  "ohhhhh,I remember that, now!" feeling! So looking forward to it! X-Force Issue #1

Image
My childhood comic book collection consisted mostly of  cool looking covers or just issues and story arcs that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.I wasn't hip to the creators of the content.I mean ,I knew there were different artists and writers but I never based my comic purchases on any one name In the business. If It was a Marvel book,I was gonna give It a try, regardless of who inked or lettered the comic. Also ,any superhero team that started with the letter "X " was a must read for me.I was super excited when I first found out about about X-Force.My thinking was ,this was going to be X-Men all over again, but with new characters! And when I finally saw the first issue on my LCS  shelves,I instantly fell In love with the cover! It was larger than life ,with an imposing Cable on the front and an equally insane looking character (Shatterstar) on the back holding twin Katanas! I must admit to not being able to remember the story as It was years ago when I last read it.I'm al...

The Punisher War Journal Issue #1

Image
It must have been summer of 1989  when I picked this one up, as a 12 year old, while visiting my moms side of the family In Manhattan,NY. I remember It clearly. My mom, sister and I walking through a crowded Delancey St. In search of a clothing store for my sister.Me?I didn't want no stinkin' clothes.I wanted comics! And It turns out magazine news stands outnumbered clothing stores 20 to 1 on that particular strip so I got to get my shopping on first!I can remember my sister throwing a fit about It,calling me a spoiled brat under her breath ,lol! She was right, though ;) As we crossed the busy street, approaching  the newsstand ,I could see It!There It was!A first issue Punisher mag with issues 2 and 3 right behind It!I scooped up all three along with a few other miscellaneous titles.    The amount of nostalgia swirling around my head right now , as I type this , Is off the charts!Punisher War Journal was one of my most immersive comic book experiences.Ever! An expe...

Re-Collecting My Childhood Comics!

Image
In the 80's ,X-Men Classic,or Classic X-Men ,whichever one you prefer, were a great series of comic books. As a kid I had a few stragglers ,you know ,late issues In my collection but I could never find that elusive number 1.So when Jim Lee dropped X-Men #1, In 1991 , I was all In.I was finally going to be  able to follow an X-Men story arc from the very beginning!Ya see, comic books was our Netflix.Only we had to wait a full month before we could get our hands on the next episode. And even after that month long wait,It wasn't a sure thing that your local comic shop would have any In stock.Still, there was nothing more exhilarating than walking into a  shop and finding that new release!Right away, X- Men became life.I had other comics In my collection.West Coast Avengers,Captain America,Spider-Man but nothing ever came close to my collection of  Jim Lee X-Men comic books.Today,I am one step closer to obtaining all of the Jim Lee X-Men comics I had as a kid. There's lots more to...
