1990 Toy Biz Marvel Superheroes Daredevil

Image
Growing up we had lots of cool superhero toys to collect. There was never a shortage of Batman, Superman or Spiderman figures in the toy aisles. Mainstream characters got all the love. Dudes like Daredevil, not so much. That all changed in the mid to late 80's (Mattel Secret Wars) and in 1990 Toy Biz would start releasing their seemingly neverending line of Marvel Superheroes that gave us action figures of everybody from  Daredevil to Deathlok.

Marvel Superheroes ToyBiz - Iron Man

Another day, another action figure scratched off my want list. This figure takes me back to the early 90's.I was trying desperately to outgrow toys and be more of a ladies man.I mean my brother had girlfriends left and right and It was about time I  followed In his footsteps.Unfortunately Marvel ToyBiz happened. And damn It If these weren't the coolest freaking action figures EVER!I mean not since Secret Wars had I seen   a  Marvel superhero action figure, and these ones had removable gear!Wolverine had the removable mask,Magneto's helmet and this figure right here.I lost my marbles when I first laid eyes on this figure.Ohh the play possibilities! An Iron Man with removable armor!!!!!GTFO!Of course, back then It was easy to overlook the fact that Iron Man's helmet was wayyy too big for his body and that this figure could have easily passed for a bobblehead, but we were so jaded.  Little ads and promotions like this were commonplace back then.Toy companies ...

More Doc Ock Figures Than One Man Should Be Allowed To Have

Image
I've been picking off  ToyBiz figures left and right ,finding them pretty cheap carded on Ebay. Hopefully the prices will remain  the same until I'm able to pick up the main figs I'm after.Today we look at Doctor Octopus. No,this Isn't a Reaction figure. In fact, these days Reaction figures tend to be pretty articulated. But yeah, this Is none other than Doc Ock!Albeit,a slimmed down version. As much as I disliked these figures back then,I totally love them now.He looks so cheezy but yet and still you know It's Doctor Octopus when you look at him. It's all there. The bowl cut ,the glasses ,the tentacles.Speaking of,I was afraid that the tentacles would be flimsy and too fragile to play with. But no,they are actually pretty damn functional. You can even have Ock suspended In air because of how good the bend-em tentacles stay In place. I know have quite the 3 3/4 Doctor Octopus figure collection. Not on purpose, either. Here they are ,chronologically dis...

Marvel Superheroes - Hulk (ToyBiz 1990)

The 70's had It's fair share of Hulk action figures. From Pocket Heroes to Die cast articulated figures and of course the famous 12 " Mego dolls. The 80's not so much. How cool would It have been to own a Mattel Secret Wars Hulk action figure!Well, we shall never know. In 1990, ToyBiz ,a toy company affiliated with Marvel Entertainment and based out of  super hero haven, NY city , took on the task of releasing a line of Marvel action figures! If you were a casual fan you probably didn't mind the myriad of  gimmicks that were given to the first few waves of figures. I didn't care for the gimmicks   much but  was excited to see Marvel action figures being produced again. With the Hulk figure ,his gimmick  wasn't so much  "smash" as It was " bend".The bent pipe accessory is very malleable .Place the pipe...
