Marvel Superheroes ToyBiz - Iron Man

Another day,another action figure scratched off my want list.This figure takes me back to the early 90's.I was trying desperately to outgrow toys and be more of a ladies man.I mean my brother had girlfriends left and right and It was about time I  followed In his footsteps.Unfortunately Marvel ToyBiz happened.And damn It If these weren't the coolest freaking action figures EVER!I mean not since Secret Wars had I seen   a  Marvel superhero action figure,and these ones had removable gear!Wolverine had the removable mask,Magneto's helmet and this figure right here.I lost my marbles when I first laid eyes on this figure.Ohh the play possibilities! An Iron Man with removable armor!!!!!GTFO!Of course,back then It was easy to overlook the fact that Iron Man's helmet was wayyy too big for his body and that this figure could have easily passed for a bobblehead,but we were so jaded. 



Little ads and promotions like this were commonplace back then.Toy companies made crack pushers look like alter boys.Not only did they want you to buy up their action figures,they wanted you buy up the comics too.Which ,when you look at it,wasn't such a bad thing after all.Reading was good for us.

Such a great Tony Stark head sculpt.Look at that 80's hair and mustache.


Here it looks like he's wearing one of those African neck elongating thingamajigs.


Ugh!So ugly It's beautiful!

    The did a line for the 1994 Iron Man animated series with removable gear- I think I had Iron Man, War Machine and Hawkeye

      I wanted to touch on that but forgot.Yeah I carefully cut the bubbles off the cards.I keep the card backs even If they're a little bent or creased.They still look great.

The other day ,my better half and I had the chance to traverse our local mall early In the day.I hate going to malls at peak hours or on the weekends.The crowds are just too damn cool for me.Long story short,our mall now has a toy store! I couldn't believe my eyes.From a far It looked like It was going to be some artsy fartsy place with educational toys ,wooden blocks and model kits,but no!This place had pretty much everything collectors go for nowadays.The name of the store Is "Go!,Toys and Games" and I can honestly say that I've never heard of It before.Everything was a dollar or two extra ,but that's not too bad considering how ridiculously expensive modern toys are In hobby and toy shops these days.I really hope this place sticks around. There Is a nice mix of everything.Marvel Legends,Star Wars  to blind bags to Funko figs.On top of that there are tons of board games   and books. WTF? Yes! 3 3/4 Marvel Legends!!!!!Not alot thou

A GI Joe Post That's Not Classified

As much as I love the Classified line of Joe figures, I feel like there's other Joe stuff out there that deserve a little bit of that spotlight.   Pictured are two custom cardback figure protectors and four Diamond Select 💎  GI Joe figures.   I'd been looking for a way to protect my stashed 3.75  o-ring Joe's when I came across these online. I picked up William Perry's and Snake Eyes protectors and will be adding more as they are made available.   These are unpunched, clean and professional looking cardbacks that feature vintage artwork  on the front and file card on the back.  Diamond Select just doesn't get the props they deserve in my opinion. As much as I dig  their Marvel Minimates line, these Joe Minimates are equally cool! I'm not even sure I want to open these guys up. I mean I want to, but would hate to.

Pop Culture League Assignment - Shelfie

I remember The League of Extraordinary Bloggers back In the day, never partook In any of the festivities, though. This time around, especially with state of  the blogosphere , I feel I need to participate a little more to see If we can breathe life back into toy blogging! So , a big thank you to Brian over at Cool and Collected  for  bringing the League back. Here's my  introductory league assignment post. Very simple ,snap a pic of two of your very favorite shelves. I chose the two shelves hat display all of my vintage . It only recently wrapped around to the bottom shelf with the addition of  a couple of Swamp Thing figures I received from Brother Midnight In a recent trade. I'm hoping to fill out the bottom shelf over the coarse of the winter.
