Stop And Smell The Toy !

Today I realized why I started collecting action figures ,again, as an adult  In the first place. I forgot how therapeutic It Is to simply pick up and pose an action figure. It hit me today while I was taking a closer look at my Ultimate Snake Eyes figure. I know lots of people talk about how blogging can be  so therapeutic and good for the soul. I don't disagree. But I collected before I blogged. Baseball cards, comics and action figures have been curing my ills way before I began posting about it.  Even now , when I'm feeling down  , I'll instinctively walk over to my display shelves to pose random action figures. It takes my mind off of whatever It is that may be  ailing me. The moral of the story here is - Just because your not posting about your collection as much, never take your collection for granted -Try to remember why you began collecting In the first place and enjoy the moment without having to stop, snap a pic and write about it.

    I currently own 5 toys (none of them action figures) Giant sized creature from the black lagoon and 4 living dead dolls. Once they sell I will have no toys at all. I found it very therapeutic to let them all go.

    Damn , sorry to hear that but at the same time happy that It worked out for u 👍 They say if you truly love something let it go.If down the road you find yourself surrounded by toys again then it was meant to be 😉

    I collected way before I blogged too. Both can be therapeutic at times... and both can be a source of stress for me. Luckily they're both mostly positive things in my life.

    Agree - thanks for reminding us about the simple pleasures of toy collecting. For a second I thought the post would be about the fresh smell of plastic when you open a toy. I have a vintage Kenner Star Wars figure....considered smelling the fresh plastic when opening it, but probably shouldn't.

The other day ,my better half and I had the chance to traverse our local mall early In the day.I hate going to malls at peak hours or on the weekends.The crowds are just too damn cool for me.Long story short,our mall now has a toy store! I couldn't believe my eyes.From a far It looked like It was going to be some artsy fartsy place with educational toys ,wooden blocks and model kits,but no!This place had pretty much everything collectors go for nowadays.The name of the store Is "Go!,Toys and Games" and I can honestly say that I've never heard of It before.Everything was a dollar or two extra ,but that's not too bad considering how ridiculously expensive modern toys are In hobby and toy shops these days.I really hope this place sticks around. There Is a nice mix of everything.Marvel Legends,Star Wars  to blind bags to Funko figs.On top of that there are tons of board games   and books. WTF? Yes! 3 3/4 Marvel Legends!!!!!Not alot thou

A GI Joe Post That's Not Classified

As much as I love the Classified line of Joe figures, I feel like there's other Joe stuff out there that deserve a little bit of that spotlight.   Pictured are two custom cardback figure protectors and four Diamond Select 💎  GI Joe figures.   I'd been looking for a way to protect my stashed 3.75  o-ring Joe's when I came across these online. I picked up William Perry's and Snake Eyes protectors and will be adding more as they are made available.   These are unpunched, clean and professional looking cardbacks that feature vintage artwork  on the front and file card on the back.  Diamond Select just doesn't get the props they deserve in my opinion. As much as I dig  their Marvel Minimates line, these Joe Minimates are equally cool! I'm not even sure I want to open these guys up. I mean I want to, but would hate to.

Pop Culture League Assignment - Shelfie

I remember The League of Extraordinary Bloggers back In the day, never partook In any of the festivities, though. This time around, especially with state of  the blogosphere , I feel I need to participate a little more to see If we can breathe life back into toy blogging! So , a big thank you to Brian over at Cool and Collected  for  bringing the League back. Here's my  introductory league assignment post. Very simple ,snap a pic of two of your very favorite shelves. I chose the two shelves hat display all of my vintage . It only recently wrapped around to the bottom shelf with the addition of  a couple of Swamp Thing figures I received from Brother Midnight In a recent trade. I'm hoping to fill out the bottom shelf over the coarse of the winter.
