Epic Moments In Action Figure History : 1991 Toy Biz Quick Change Armor Iron Man

Super hero action figures have always been around. And whether you were battling It out In your backyard with Mego or adventuring on an alien planet with Mattel's line of Secret Wars figures, there were always times when you wished you could remove a figures mask or helmet to reveal their secret identity. Secret identities were huge In the comics we read , and played just as big a part as the alter egos did. How cool would It have been to have a David Banner or  Peter Parker  figure?!?  While we never got either of the aforementioned, In 1991 Toy Biz gave us Tony Stark!


Quick Change Armor Iron Man's  helmet ,chest ,arm and leg armor were all removable giving the figure  maximum re-playabilty! The release of Toy Biz's 1991 line of Marvel Superheroes will always be pretty unforgettable ,but It was figures like this that ,IMO, make It an epic moment In action figure history!

    ToyBiz made some fun figures! The sheer number of superhero figures in all different sizes and variations is staggering. Someone should write a book about that company if they haven't...

    Agreed, Colin! And even though it was hit or miss with the figure designs, there were way more hits than misses.ToyBiz was essentially the first Marvel Universe.

The other day ,my better half and I had the chance to traverse our local mall early In the day.I hate going to malls at peak hours or on the weekends.The crowds are just too damn cool for me.Long story short,our mall now has a toy store! I couldn't believe my eyes.From a far It looked like It was going to be some artsy fartsy place with educational toys ,wooden blocks and model kits,but no!This place had pretty much everything collectors go for nowadays.The name of the store Is "Go!,Toys and Games" and I can honestly say that I've never heard of It before.Everything was a dollar or two extra ,but that's not too bad considering how ridiculously expensive modern toys are In hobby and toy shops these days.I really hope this place sticks around. There Is a nice mix of everything.Marvel Legends,Star Wars  to blind bags to Funko figs.On top of that there are tons of board games   and books. WTF? Yes! 3 3/4 Marvel Legends!!!!!Not alot thou

A GI Joe Post That's Not Classified

As much as I love the Classified line of Joe figures, I feel like there's other Joe stuff out there that deserve a little bit of that spotlight.   Pictured are two custom cardback figure protectors and four Diamond Select 💎  GI Joe figures.   I'd been looking for a way to protect my stashed 3.75  o-ring Joe's when I came across these online. I picked up William Perry's and Snake Eyes protectors and will be adding more as they are made available.   These are unpunched, clean and professional looking cardbacks that feature vintage artwork  on the front and file card on the back.  Diamond Select just doesn't get the props they deserve in my opinion. As much as I dig  their Marvel Minimates line, these Joe Minimates are equally cool! I'm not even sure I want to open these guys up. I mean I want to, but would hate to.

Pop Culture League Assignment - Shelfie

I remember The League of Extraordinary Bloggers back In the day, never partook In any of the festivities, though. This time around, especially with state of  the blogosphere , I feel I need to participate a little more to see If we can breathe life back into toy blogging! So , a big thank you to Brian over at Cool and Collected  for  bringing the League back. Here's my  introductory league assignment post. Very simple ,snap a pic of two of your very favorite shelves. I chose the two shelves hat display all of my vintage . It only recently wrapped around to the bottom shelf with the addition of  a couple of Swamp Thing figures I received from Brother Midnight In a recent trade. I'm hoping to fill out the bottom shelf over the coarse of the winter.
