G.I. Joe The Rise Of Cobra

Image
I never expected the first live action G.I. Joe film to be a masterpiece. I don't think any of us did. Heck, I didn't even expect it to be good. Turns out the movie fell somewhere between bad and good for me. GI Joe The Rise of Cobra just....exists. That's not necessarily a bad thing. The movie spawned a nice assortment of action figures and a video game. It was also cool to see Joe coloring books, comics and cake toppers up and down department store toy aisles. Was it short lived? Yes. Did G.I. Joe become mainstream popular again? No. But It was a nice little ride, while it lasted.

The Creative Process

Image
I'll be the first to admit it. Sometimes, just a pic and a post is alot more up my alley. Especially on days where  I have no desire, whatsoever, to write anything. Other times I'm completely in the mood to wax poetic about everything from childhood related stories to miscellaneous rants about newly released action figures that apparently only exist online. Writing is a process, though, isn't it? With me, it always starts with a cup of coffee. That always seems to get the brain firing on all cylinders. Then I begin to creepily stare at my action figures while 80s soft rock plays eerily in the background. I know, It sounds very  Ed Kemper / Hannibal Lecter - like but I assure you I don't get down like that 😂 Love the movies, though! But I digress. The perfect combination of  caffeine, calming cadence and carefully curated classic action figure collection usually translate into what is, most of the time, a well thought out action figure post. For me, anyways. What about ...

Happy Memorial Day

Image
Alot of people are at odds about Memorial Day.  Some say we shouldn't celebrate war. Others say different. I, personally, can't stand holidays. Christmas I like but only because I get to see the kids enjoying themselves and all of the great Christmas themed movies from back in the day. For the most part I see holidays as cliche moments that allow people to break the monotony of work to gather and spew small talk. Although, celebrating something every year on the same date also seems pretty monotonous to me. I'd rather stay home and watch T.V. But that's not to say that I don't respect the Americans who signed up to take on the task of  defending our country. Ultimately, putting their lives on the line in the process. Shout out to  GiJigsaw   whom I know served from reading many of his military themed posts. Again, I don't celebrate war. I celebrate the brave participants. So ,thank you!

it's Been A Long Week!

Image
This month has been an eventful one. My daughter was with me this week as my birthday was on the 20th and with restrictions starting to ease up, we had a small gathering at my parents. My dad's birthday was a couple of days before mine so we celebrated it together and my older brother came up from Florida ,unbeknownst to anyone, to join in the hectic month that has been May.  The weather has been pretty amazing and my daughter and I were finally able to get in a few soft toss sessions in the front yard. As far as toy pick ups, I managed to snag up this Peter Venkman Ghostbusters reissue from Walmart. A little overpriced if you ask me at 15 bucks a pop. Not sure how much longer these will be around. Hopefully long enough for me to be able to complete the team. This guy will go on my vintage display, even though it's a reissue.
