Birthday Pick Ups # 2

V.2 Storm Shadow was my Storm Shadow, growing up.I can still remember being mesmerized while holding the figure, still In package,at my local TRU as a kid. What made it even more special to me was the fact that Stormie was now a good guy! This version of Storm Shadow infiltrates Cobra to find out who murdered his uncle and occasionally went on side missions with Snake Eyes! When I first laid eyes on this listing of  a  Funskool India Storm Shadow  ,I had my doubts.I remember buying  a Funskool Sgt.Slaughter  before and being pretty miffed about the quality of the figure. But V.2 Storm Shadow looked pretty damn close to the real deal In pics and so after watching a couple of YouTube reviews on It,I went through with the purchase.

I must admit to being pretty pissed off once the figure arrived. The seller described the item as Mint Inside  Packaging sold on creased card ,and as you can tell by the pic below ,the figure seemed to have a yellowish tint to it. I contacted the seller and his excuse was that he was just trying to sell me the nicest looking card.I told him that I knew the cards were bad.The only reason I purchased the figure was because It was supposed to be mint inside packaging. He said that I could return It but would have to pay return shipping.I told him to keep the money and that I would be leaving bad feedback. After leaving the bad feed back I proceeded to open the figure.....and to my surprise It wasn't the figure but the  plastic blister that had the yellowish tint!I felt like total shit for leaving bad feedback ,but should I have?I mean ,he had to have thought the figure was yellowed as well before sending It out to me otherwise he would have told me that It was fine inside the packaging.Anyways,I went back and revised the feedback. And It turns out the seller had a few more negative feedback ratings with pretty much the same issue I had.I still feel kind of shitty about the whole thing as I shouldn't have overreacted as much and probably waited until after I opened the figure to leave any kind of feedback.Oh well, nobody's perfect.

As you can see,the figure Is In great condition, and complete! You can see a tinge of yellowing around certain parts of the figure but It's hardly noticeable. With these Funskool figures, though, you have to be careful. The quality of the paint Is inferior to the U.S. figs,so you have to carefully equip you figure so as to not rub any of the paint off.I don't normally equip my Joes anyways for fear of thumb breakage.

That Arashikage clan tat Is surprisingly crisp and clean but not accurate. It's supposed to have a dotted line at the top and then a solid line underneath. It looks like maybe they  stamped It upside down. It's still a dead giveaway If you want to determine the difference between releases.I guess I could always find some legitimate V.2 Stormie arms to replace the ones this figure came with.Other than that ,the figure looks great and the joints on It are super tight!

  1. Be careful. Otherwise you'll wake up one day and your Joe collection will take up an entire room! Those things are addictive like that!

  5. Glad the figure was okay. Did they ever make cartoons with Storm Shadow infiltrating Cobra?

  6. You know I'm not entirely sure.I know the second installation of the cartoon series had alot of the newer characters and Ninja from the 90s figure line. They may feature something like that in a new Joe film though.

    1. Storm Shadow did make an appearance in the second series of cartoons, and he did infiltrate a Cobra base with the Joes. However, this was not the V2 of Storm Shadow as you have in figure format above. His look was that of the V3 version released in 1992.
