Birthday Pick Ups #1

It has been an emotional roller coaster these last couple of weeks to say the least. It seems like every month another one of my family members Is hospitalized.I lost one of my favorite people In the world ,my little cousin , passed away at the young age of 26 a few months back.My favorite aunt landed In the hospital a couple months after and now I'm dealing with an even bigger pain of having to see my dad in a hospital bed these last couple of days.Is It just me or are people sicker nowadays more than ever before?I think this Is what has spurred me to go on a health kick. While exercise Is great for you physically, I think I've benefited more mentally from It.These birthday posts are bittersweet but also beneficiary.Writing helps me get things out of my system.Writing about childhood action figures and memories  reminds me of how things used to be .This keeps me grounded ,even If It's only for a few minutes,or so.I don't want this post to end on a downer as things like this happen to everyone, everyday. It's a part of life that we learn from and can hopefully share with others who might be going through the same thing.Even for those who have yet to experience It ,but most definitely will at some point.

On a lighter note,my first birthday pick up Is none other than Jinx,G.I. Joe's first and I think only female Ninja character. Having this figure as a kid was great because It helped fill the Ninja void that many kids shared who weren't fortunate enough to own a Snake Eyes figure. No weapons ,just a backpack but still, an  incredibly awesome figure!

  1. Sorry to hear about the loss of your cousin... and I hope your aunt and father make speedy recoveries. I've been reading blogs for about a decade now and 2019 has been by far the toughest in regards to illnesses and deaths. 2019 sucks!

  3. 24? That is so damn young! I'm sorry for your loss, and I feel really bad for his parents, I don't have any kids, but if I did, I don't think that I would be able to handle something like that. And yes, is does seem like people are unhealthier these days. Folks are a lot less active than they used to be, and are consuming a lot more "food" that is made up from ingredients that were created in a lab. There's also the whole thing about taking medicine's made by big pharmaceutical companies who may or may not be creating the illnesses that they're "treating".

I really love this purchase BTW, Jinx was one of the few big names that I never owned as a child, and still don't as an adult.

    1. Thank you,Jon.The stuff we shovel into our mouths these days is practically plastic.Synthetic.It's hard to find healthy alternatives because sometimes the healthy alternatives are also tainted.I find that eating In moderation helps me the best.Small portions and three times a day. That way ,If you have to eat something that's not exactly super healthy for you,at least you are eating It In moderation and that's a great start.

  4. that is rough- I've been going through similar with my Mom and Dad- my Dad is having a lot of trouble physically while my Mom is having what I call RetCon dementia. She's going back to her past and re-writing random details.

Happy Birthday, man and congrats on the nice finds
