Toy Biz Marvel Legends Showdown 3 3/4

While most people prefer Hasbro's Marvel Universe figures when It comes to character likenesses,I feel like Toy Biz got It right a few times themselves. In 2006 ,Toy Biz introduced the Showdown series.Figures came In single and two packs and were packaged with trading cards  and die  ,combining action figures with a  strategy card game .The line was hit and miss, but the hits were right on.Below are 4 of the nicer looking figures In the wave. There are other great looking figures but these are the few that I own.

The one major problem with this line lies In the quality department. The figures look great but must be handled with kid - gloves. Also,be careful when removing these figures from their packaging as their limbs and the plastic could be brittle due to being carded for so long.

Doctor Octopus Is my favorite of the bunch but I'm so afraid of  breakage that I try to avoid handling him too much. That kind of sucks for those of you who like to constantly pose  and play with your figures.I would designate them for display and the occasional picture only. That said ,the figures ,well some of them, look so spot on that you gotta give It to Toy Biz.

  2. My biggest issue with Toy Biz was they seemed stuck in the moment of popular super heroes. They weren't too interested in venture far out beyond the likes of Spider-Man, X-Men, Avengers, Hulk or Fantastic Four. This in turn lead to a whole bunch of the same characters being repeatedly produced.

    1. Later on they would release a ton of different characters from all of those names you mentioned above. They were all so darned gimmicky, though.

  3. Are Mole Man and Doctor Octopus related? They look like they could be brothers.

P.S. That Doc Ock figure is sweet!
