Done With Instagram

The Instagram experiment has now come to a close.I've been on there for about a year and a half ,amassed 700 + followers and made some great cyber friends along the way.Everything was cool until I realized that I was becoming addicted to it.Scrolling through endless upon endless toy pic feeds ,reluctantly liking posts just to get likes in return. Then I started to get curious ,looking up old people I knew from back in the day and that's when It hit me.It had taken me years to get over my somewhat forgettable past and Instagram was bringing It all back.People I didn't want to remember started creeping into my suggestion feed, along with all those terrible memories .I realized ,I was happier without all that.I prefer blogging. It's more quaint ,private and slower than all these insta-apps that are designed for their users to indulge.Slow is my speed.I'll admit,It was fun at first but then It started to get a little too personal,so ultimately  It was time to insta-scram from Instagram.

  1. Man I tell you I think it's probably for the best. I had instagram working for a short time and I realized it wasn't for me. its like the difference in taking the time to chew your food and appreciate the flavor or just shoveling it is and swallowing it like a snake never even knowing that it has a flavor at all.

  2. My students convinced me to create a classroom account. Don't think I've ever logged in since. As soon as they graduate in 6 weeks, I'll probably just delete it.

    1. Let me tell you, there's nothing more liberating than deleting an Instagram account.Seriously, you'll breath a sigh of relief once you do so.

  3. I've cut way back on my use of Instagram, too, and I've even taken a break from Twitter for a bit. They're both huge time sinks, and I found I wasn't getting anything done because I was just sitting around scrolling through feeds.

I don't know that I'm going to completely quit using it, but I definitely needed to set limits on how much I look at it.

    1. I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one feeling this way.I think I've suffered permanent neck damage from looking down and scrolling through those never ending feeds so much.Oh ,and the alerts with the little icon constantly reminding me to check back in.Ugh,I don't even wanna think about It.
