2 MINUTE TOY BREAK !

 These two issues of Red Circle  Mighty Crusaders comics have blasted me back to my childhood. Page after action filled page, I'm reminded of what I loved so much about comics as a kid. A superhero team with a deep roster all with their own quirks and distinct personalities as well as diverse powers. Impactful cover art and fisticuffs  packed panels tie everything together.  At times it feels like I'm watching it all unfold in front of me.  The very first page gives off a Pacific Rim vibe. A great opening scene and continuation from the first issue. Mighty Crusader's arch-enemy the Brain Emporer is a really cool character.  He kind of reminds me of Serpentor.  One of my favorite parts in the book is when Black Hood leaves his post  to help The Shield, who has become magnetically attached to the  ships hull. Let me start this off by establishing the fact that I am a lazy as hell reviewer. I'll be the first to admit it. I'd much rather just post a couple of  pics with a few footnotes here and there and call it a day. However, I would almost always prefer to do an action figure review over a comic book review. With comics I never really know what pages to snap pics of or the importance of the creators/ writers/artists. Also, I don't want to spoil it for anyone who decides to go out and get a copy for themselves. So please bear with me.   As far as Mighty Crusaders issue  #1 goes... fucking loved it!  Look at that cover! Alot of times comics show all types of action on the cover and shit doesn't pop off until 7 or 8 pages into the book. Not here. If you want an even better idea of what your about to get into just flip the comic over and look at the back. Top notch art. Non-stop action. Lots of well written dialogue.  ...

The Mighty Crusaders line of action figures is as campy and cliche as they come and I absolutely love it! Everybody's name starts with "The" and the exaggerated, super bright aesthetics of each figure harkens back to the golden age of comic books !  "Joe Higgins A.K.A. The Shield! F.B.I. agent with super strength, the power to leap great distances and withstand 2,000 degrees of heat! " There's not much to these figures. 6 points of articulation, and an action feature that allows you to pull back on the right arm and release for mighty punch action! They have a real 70s feel to them even though they came out in 1984.

The one thing that stands out to me about this figure is his handle. The Fox! Off the bat I'm thinking covert, sneaky but deadly. According to the card back profile, Paul Patton is a freelance photographer who is skilled in the martial arts and is considered to be a living weapon. I love this guy already! He screams "Solo Mission!" Here he is all decked out with accessories. Luckily, the figure stood the test of time and came out in one piece. The holster was pretty stiff out of the packaging but nothing a blow dryer couldn't fix. Overall I'm very pleased. I love the costume design and color scheme. He's like a cross between Black Panther and The Phantom. Also, that yellow logo rocks!  I also love the fact that he's able to carry all of his accessories. The rifle strap fits nicely around his torso and the blaster fits snug into the oversized holster. The shield doubles as a whistle and works great. I tried it😁 And then my dog start...

This is kind of a weird thing. I feel like  I either owned or knew someone who owned this figure as a kid but can't remember exactly when this all happened. Heck It might just be a false memory for all I know. I could be confusing it with the Voltron Robeast Scorpious figure. Regardless, I'm really digging this line right now. Much like their Lost World of  Warlord line of action figures, REMCO took a not so popular Mighty Crusaders  comic book franchise and made toys out of them! From what I gathered, the original Mighty Crusaders comics of the 60's were written by Superman's co- creator Jerry Siegel. That lasted only 7 issues and then in 1983 Archie Comics affiliated Red Circle Comics revived the series. REMCO then produced an action figure line.
