2 MINUTE TOY BREAK !

 Skeletor has been getting all the love in the new MOTU live action film but as far as action figures go, Trap Jaw is your winner hands down.  Trap Jaw doesn't have a base core figure yet. Instead, Mattel went with an even more kid friendly offering releasing Trap Jaw as a deluxe figure with a special action feature.  I love this figure but I'm not crazy about the action feature.  As you can see I had to prop Trap Jaw's robotic arm with a stand because it's not articulated. You can't permanently lower or raise it. The only way to move the arm is by twisting Trap Jaw at the waist, which allows for the knife or hook attachment to deploy.  It sucks because aesthetically the figure rocks. Not being able to articulate the robotic arm for pics and general posing really stinks.  I hope they release a single carded MOTU CORE TJ soon. F...

Remember that 80's song " One Thing Leads to Another" ? That's kind of what happened after I picked up that Amazon 4 pack of MOTU Core movie figures. I can't say that that it hasn't been a fun ride. Journey down the rabbit hole with me as I take a look at MOTU Core Teela.  I'm not very familiar with the actress playing Teela in the film so I can't speak on face sculpt accuracy. Everything else seems to be par for the course.  Teela comes with a sword and pistol that can't be holstered 😡  While most of the figures in this line seem like a steal at $10 a pop, you get what you pay for with Teela. To me, she's the equivalent of April O'Neil. Not a " must-have" but  a " nice-to-have". 

I've said it before, there are certain figures that emit dark vibes and just creep me TF out, lol! Skel-Knights do just that!  These guys are just scary looking. Almost alien like. Skel-Knights aren't the most poseable figures. That said, if strategically posed, you can get their legs to articulate through the open parts of the skirt to get some decent shots.  I'm surprised at how much I like this figure. Even with the minimal paint apps and lack of mobility, these guys have a presence about them. The armor, while drab, is detailed and the sword is nicely sculpted.  I can't say enough about these CORE figures. At the very least, pick up He-Man and Skeletor even if you're not completely sold on the line. You may be tempted to pick up more! I'm really enjoying the quality of these lower priced Core figures based on the newly released Masters of the Universe film. These guys are chunky with above average sculpts and 13 points of articulation. Join me on this 2 Minute Toy Break as we take a look at Beast 👺 Man. Remember Chap Mei and their line of fantasy figures? That's what Beast Man and really most of the CORE line remind me of. Only with more articulation and in a larger scale.  Beast Man's whip accessory is made out of rubber and flows naturally in pics.  This close-up gives you an idea of how nice the sculpting looks. Mattel did a great job here!  More CORE on the way as well as a couple of recently picked up Chronicles figures. Stay tuned! 

I wish I could say that I found this at my local Walmart but such was not the case. More than a month after reports that MOTU movie figures were hitting store shelves, my local Walmart is still devoid of anything He-Man. Until I can find any of these figures in the wild, Amazon will be my go-to.  These figures take me back to a simpler time, when toys were toys. The  card front depicts He-Man and Skeletor having a stare contest. Mekaneck adorns the base of the packaging.  Meck was  fun to pose and photograph. He won't be on anybodys top 10 list but he still provides good old fashion action figure fun. Also, is it just me or does he give off Joe vibes? He kind of  reminds me of Scrap-Iron.  I didn't think I was gonna like the neck extensions but they photograph well. One straight neck accessory would have been cool, too, but I'm good with what we got. I was able to get some decent shots of Meck  doing some long neck recon...

More MOTU-CATS goodness. Again, you're getting two versions of He-Man here. Both are pretty cool looking although I do prefer the original harness look.  This might be the first version of He-Man to sport a removable helmet. Let me know in the comments If I'm wrong about this. Either way, I'm diggin' it!  This will be my default T-Cats He-Man!  The included comic is always a nice plus as it  provides a little source material to go along with your action figure.
