2 MINUTE TOY BREAK !

 There are all kinds of toy remorse. Maybe you overpaid for an action figure that later on ended up going on clearance. Have you ever sold off something in your collection, instantly regretting it? What about that wobbly legged vintage MOTU figure you attempted to fix and ended up completely ruining in the process. I'm currently battling a bout of toy remorse and it involves the opening of my Marvel Legends retro 3.75" figures. My attempt to have the best of both worlds backfired!  The plan was to remove the figures in a way where I'd be able to keep the bubble intact for redisplaying. Everything went right but I instantly regretted it afterwards. The figures just didn't seem as great to me out of the packaging as they did on card. And now there's a gaping hole at the the top of the bubble that, unless you make a perfect cut, is going to look rather odd lol! It's something I can live with but wish I hadn't done in the first place. On the bright ...

I've been eyeing my Marvel Legends Retro 3.75 figs hung up on my wall for a minute now, brainstorming possible ways to get them out of the packaging while keeping the bubble intact to redisplay them. I knew what I was going to do in theory but never got around to the actual implementation of the plan.  A couple days back I successfully removed Daredevil and Black Panther. Using a new utility knife razor, I carefully cut out a rectangular shaped exit point at the top of the bubble for my Daredevil figure to slide through.  It worked like a charm! Ya gotta fudge it a little but eventually the figure will come out complete in it's plastic mold. Discard the plastic mold, you won't be needing it. Now, with the extra space I can redisplay my Daredevil figure with staffs equipped!  You can't even tell the top's been cut out. It's gonna be a little harder with the bigger figures but it should work the same. Jus...

I've held out long enough. Toy pick ups have been  few and far between so I'm finally going to crack open my Marvel Legends 3.75 Retro figures! I'm going to try something different , though. I'll be carefully cutting out a small opening at the top of the blister to see If I can slide the figure out. Hopefully both the figure and card will come out of this unharmed. I'll let you guys know how it goes! 

I can't remember the last time I actively sought out an action figure line in the wild. I gave up on Joe Classified figures and MOTU Origins early on. I think the fact that these Legends figures only cost 10 bucks at retail give me an added incentive to hunt them down. While pickings are still slim, I managed to stumble across a small assortment of Marvel Legends Retro figures at a Walmart I hadn't been to in a couple of years. It was going to be my last hunt of the day  as I had already scoured the toy aisles at a nearby Target and an out of the way Walmart. The third time proved to be a charm! 

Every week I take a ride out to Buffalo to see my daughter. Each visit consists of a ride to McDonald's for lunch and then another down to the local Walmart for a makeup run. There's 2 Walmart's, actually, but we hit up the one closest to where she lives. On these runs, she'll typically go her way to find her cosmetics and I'll check out the toy aisle, and then we meet back up to shop in tandem. Unfortunately, my daughter usually has to put up with my "scalper" or "bare toy aisle" rant. I don't think she understands the pain and I doubt she ever will. Hopes of GI Joe Classified and Marvel Legends retro crushed by rows upon rows of Power Rangers and Godzilla figures can take it's toll.  I paid for my daughter's things and we exited as I licked my wounds and kicked rocks on the way to the car. Damn you Hasbro for making action figure cardbacks cooler than the actual action figures! I'm torn between keeping these amazing Marvel Legends retro 3.75 figures carded and removing them from the packaging. I've already paid scalper prices for them so picking up doubles of these figures is out of the question. I've been brainstorming different ways to open the packaging in a way that I could possibly put the figures back in the bubble to  hang  up for display. It'd be cool If someone invented a perforated back where you could remove the figure from the back and keep the front in tact.
